How are you these days? I hope there is peace and love around you and that all of your loved ones are safe. I say extra prayers these days for everyone caught in the middle of strife and conflict, from the smallest to the most devastating moments. Peace is what I pray for.
There is a lot of deeply ambivalent energy and opposite forces at work in November. Power, fear, anger, endings, confrontation, and hate meet love, faith, openness, emotions and moves made from the heart.
Anger seems to be covering up a lot of grief right now and if you feel yourself getting close to boiling over there is value in digging into what the anger is masking or getting mixed up with. Anger is an activating energy and we can feel uncomfortable expressing it or being on the receiving end of or afraid of being run over by it. Not dealing with it can keep us locked in an inflexible fighting stance way beyond any practical need.
Not engaging in meaningful ways with your anger is self-harm. If you don’t have access to your anger and feel numb then simple physical movements like yoga, or long walks can loosen the energy enough for your emotions to flow more freely. When it is flowing without judgement you can see what shows up below.
If you feel thoroughly shaken up by global, local, external or internal circumstances and experiences, then November is here to teach you to swim in these deep waters. We are going through some pretty serious ‘wash cycles’ energetically in the last months of 2023 and in the first couple of months of 2024.
The themes of authenticity and transparency that next year is pulling towards us mean that the shedding and re-directing are already starting now. Scorpio season is all about pulling the weeds and beliefs from deep below to the surface. No more festering, let's get it out into the open and clear the air.
The words ‘trauma waits for no one’ popped into my head and led me to this interview with Bessel van der Kolk. It's a reminder for us all as clients, patients and practitioners to be open to many different tools and approaches as we grow over time. Maybe you needed a more forceful tool in the past and are now able to apply gentler methods or vice versa.
There can be extra comfort in decorating for the season, revisiting old favorites, be it songs, scents, food and overall nostalgia in November. No matter what hemisphere and season you're in, allow yourself ease and comfort. There are less than 60 days left of this year and to get the most of them we have to focus on the present moment.
Here are the cards for this month from Tosha Silver's The Wild Offering Oracle deck. The deck uses different words throughout for the Divine so feel free to replace it with your own if the one on the card doesn't quite resonate.
Mistakes - Allow me to know it's okay to make mistakes. Let me always take care of the inner Child so he or she feels loved no matter what.
Despair - I need Your divine intercession right now, oh Great Spirit! Lift this darkness from my soul; free me from this burden. Open me to Your highest plan. May I be a peaceful vessel for Your Love.
Contentment - You can learn to rest in what you already have and already are. Suddenly you remember: I'm right here resting in God!
